In the past five years, my family has worked with Mt. Scott Funeral Home for three deaths. The first, my father, died after a lengthy illness. That was my introduction to the steps that are required and the intensity of emotions that surge up. The second death, that of my mother, came during a time when my wife was seriously ill (she would, in a few short months, be the third.). Then my wife early in 2010.I can say without exception that I (and all others in my family) felt a level of peace and comfort because of the staff at Mt. Scott. I well remember the time shortly after my father’s service that we had to make some decisions about the grave marker and other issues. The sensitivity and firm yet gentle guiding from Rebecca was truly wonderful. Her immense respect for our mother coupled with her ability to provide some outstanding ideas, was remarkable and appreciated. We all have spoken of her in very favorable terms in subsequent days. Then the events surrounding my mother just solidified my belief in the mission of Mt. Scott. I was deeply involved in the medical issues with my wife and that was taken into consideration by the staff. They knew I was under immense stress and helped me hold it together. Again, sensitivity, caring and a strong sense of professionalism was evident.Upon the death of my wife, I could think of no other home to which I would entrust my beloved. It was automatic! And I was not disappointed. Meeting with Dennis on Monday morning to make the necessary arrangements was relatively easy. He asked all the right questions and led me through the steps with patience and thoroughness. His willingness to make arrangements for my stepson to see his mother (she was to be cremated) was so appreciated. He recognized that it was important and made sure the opportunity was made available. We had my wife interred at the Willamette National Cemetery nearly a month later. The staff readily made the arrangements and Rebecca met us there at the appropriate time. She took charge of the basic processes, helped me as I suffered through the emotions and then, after we had placed the urn in the niche and watched them seal it, stayed and took pictures of the whole family. A nice touch.I can, without qualification, say that the three times I have been helped by Mt. Scott Funeral Home exceeded my expectations in the areas of professionalism, sensitivity, willingness to take the extra step and their rendering of support. I would wholeheartedly recommend them for the work they do (I call it their mission.)

Mt Scott are professional people. We had a very pleasant experience with Mt. Scott Funeral Home. Rebecca and Greg were very professional and very attentive to our needs. There was no pressure whats so ever to buy merchandise, in fact we had a strict budget and Greg actually talked to us about a less expensive casket, our family couldnt believe it. He was wonderful to work with and Rebecca was available to answer questions for us. "Very professional young lady" Mt. Scott is famiy owned and operated and learned that its been in the same family in its existance. All the details were taken care of from the moment we sat down with the funeral director. There prices are very reasonable. Mothers service was a great tribute to the life she lived. My family and I highly recomend this funeral home. Facilities are very nice with a large reception area, and they also recommended different ideas for catering for the reception. We will always remember Greg and Rebecca for there kindness.

I can't think of a group of people who I would trust more with my final arrangements and those of my loved ones. Andrea and her team are a caring, close knit group who help with every detail. They are thoughtful and careful at a time when that is extremely important. I highly recommend their services to my friends and family.

I appreciate that this is a family owned, multi-generation funeral home that's been in Portland for over 75 years. The physical funeral home is lovely and well maintained. The service was beautiful and handled well. It's obvious the directors are well trained. They're also thoughtful, respectful, and have found that nice and sometimes hard to find balance between being professional and being sensitive. I doubt there are more caring people in this industry. I trust them to make any type of arrangements for me or for my family.

I love the staff at Mt. Scott Funeral Home. They are both pleasant and professional, and their sincerity genuine. Their lovely building (located in SE Portland) is a neighborhood landmark, and it really reflects the care provided by one family for generations now...to other families at a very hard time.I would not hesitate to use Mt. Scott Funeral Home for any funeral arrangements needed. Helping with pre-arrangements is something they offer as well and something we all should consider.

Dear Staff of Mt. Scott
There are no words to say how each and every one of you touched my heart and soul and helped me through a hard time. We are so blessed to have an organization of your integrity in the city.

We had everything in place ahead of time and it was comforting to know that all we had to do was make one call and Mt. Scott would walk us through everything. And that is exactly what happened.

Everything was wonderful. The service went like clockwork. Greg was particularly helpful with the young grandsons who were acting as pallbearers.
